Cloud Saves
The Cloud Saves subsystem provides access to Steam Cloud storage, allowing you to save, load, delete, and enumerate game save files associated with the current user and application.
This subsystem is built around Unreal Engine USaveGame objects and integrates directly with Steam Cloud, making it suitable for both simple single-slot saves and more advanced multi-file save systems.
Capabilities
- Check whether Steam Cloud is enabled for the user and for the application.
- Save
USaveGameobjects to Steam Cloud under custom file names. - Load
USaveGameobjects from Steam Cloud. - Delete existing cloud save files.
- Enumerate all save files stored in Steam Cloud for the current application.
- Query total and available Steam Cloud storage quota.
Important Notes
- Steam Cloud must be enabled both for the user account and in the application settings in Steamworks.
- Save and load operations rely on file names; managing naming conventions is the responsibility of the game.
- Cloud storage quota is limited by Steam and may vary depending on application configuration.
- Steam Cloud is not a replacement for server-side saves and does not provide conflict resolution logic by itself.
