Leaderboards

Google Play Games Services Leaderboards allow players to compete by comparing scores across different time ranges and social scopes, such as global and friends-only rankings.

The Leaderboards module provides full access to Google Play Games leaderboard features in Unreal Engine through a consistent Blueprint API, supporting score submission, metadata queries, and multiple ways of retrieving leaderboard results.

Capabilities

  • Display the native Google Play Games UI with all available leaderboards.
  • Display the native UI for a specific leaderboard.
  • Submit scores to leaderboards using fire-and-forget or immediate result modes.
  • Retrieve metadata for all leaderboards or a specific leaderboard.
  • Load top leaderboard scores for selected time spans and collections.
  • Load leaderboard scores centered around the current player.
  • Retrieve the current player’s score for a leaderboard.

Important Notes

  • All Leaderboards functions require the player to be successfully signed in to Google Play Games Services.
  • Leaderboard IDs must exactly match the identifiers configured in the Google Play Console.
  • Score ordering is defined by the leaderboard configuration and cannot be changed at runtime.
  • Leaderboard data may be cached locally unless a forced reload is requested.
